BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — As the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season continues, Parrish Medical Center is encouraging Space Coast residents—especially seniors—to prepare now by attending the Boomer Senior Hurricane Prep Rally & Senior Fair on Friday, July 17, at the St. John Catholic Community Event Center in Viera.
The free community event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will provide valuable information, resources, and expert guidance to help residents prepare for potential tropical storms and hurricanes.
Parrish Medical Center is serving as the event’s First Aid Station Sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to community health and emergency preparedness throughout Brevard County.
One of the featured speakers will be National Weather Service Meteorologist Will Ulrich, who will provide attendees with the latest information on hurricane forecasting, preparedness strategies, and what residents should know before severe weather threatens Florida’s Space Coast.
Guests will also have the opportunity to visit a variety of hurricane preparedness stations, where emergency management professionals and community organizations will share practical tips on assembling emergency kits, creating evacuation plans, protecting important documents, and preparing homes for severe weather.
With hurricane season running through Nov. 30, officials continue to emphasize that preparing before a storm is one of the most effective ways to protect families and reduce stress when watches and warnings are issued.
The Boomer Senior Hurricane Prep Rally & Senior Fair is open to the public, with a special focus on helping older adults gain the knowledge and resources needed to stay safe during hurricane season.
The event will be held at the St. John Catholic Community Event Center, located in Viera, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17.
Organizers encourage residents to attend and take advantage of the educational presentations, preparedness exhibits, and community resources available.
