BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – Recent rainfall has affected ongoing wastewater infrastructure improvements, requiring the temporary closure of a portion of North Riverside Drive, just north of Alamanda Court in Indialantic, beginning Monday, July 27.
The roadway is expected to remain fully closed for approximately one week to allow crews to make significant progress before the start of the school year.
Following the full closure, motorists should expect intermittent single-lane closures through September. Clearly marked detour signs will be in place to guide traffic.
Detour Routes:
• Northbound: U.S. 192/5th Avenue to State Road A1A to Paradise Boulevard
• Southbound: Paradise Boulevard to State Road A1A to U.S. 192/5th Avenue
Access to residential driveways will be maintained throughout construction. Construction schedules may be adjusted due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
The project will convert existing septic systems to a centralized gravity sewer system along North Riverside Drive, Rose Marie Lane, and Alamanda Court. The work is being completed by Atlantic Development of Cocoa, Inc. and is funded through the voter-approved Save Our Indian River Lagoon (SOIRL) Program.
The project is designed to improve wastewater infrastructure and reduce nutrient pollution entering the Indian River Lagoon. Construction is anticipated to be complete in October 2026.
Brevard County appreciates the community’s patience as we improve our essential County infrastructure.
