BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In remembrance of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson randomly selected 25 people that were killed on that tragic day. Space Coast Daily will release one story per day leading up to September 11, 2026. Today’s story is about Guy Barzvi, who died on 9/11 while working in the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York. Story courtesy of legacy.com.
#12 Guy Barzvi’s was excited about turning 30 next February. He told his younger sister, Lori, that he was spending too much time on work and too little time on himself. But that was about to change.
“He was trying to figure out how he could have more quality of life,” Lori said.
The son of Israeli immigrants, Guy often wandered far from his home in Forest Hills, Queens. He had traveled to Seville, Spain, and yearned to return sometime soon. In the meantime, he learned to salsa and strum flamenco on a guitar. Not long ago, he began making plans for his birthday. He had heard of a party scheduled for that day at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, and wanted to join the festivities. His sister planned to invite his friends along to sing “Happy Birthday.” “He’s just the best guy that I’ve ever known,” she said. “We’re still hoping that we’ll find him.”

Steve Wilson was born in DeRidder, Louisiana and grew up in both New Orleans and Macon, Georgia. He moved to Brevard County in 1984 and retired from local government as the Community Advocate/Assistant to the City Manager with the City of Rockledge in 2018.

Wilson is especially proud of his chairing two fundraisers in support of pediatric cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation in honor of Merritt Island resident Julie Spurlock that raised over $25,000.00.
He has been a partner, along with Orville Susong, for the past 27 years with the Friday Night Locker Room, a broadcasting team that covers and reports on a wide variety of local events that are of significance to the residents of the Space Coast and beyond. Their mission is to promote youth sports, support first responders and law enforcement personnel, and showcase community and charitable events that are produced by our nonprofit partners in central Florida.
The Friday Night Locker Room has awarded hundreds of sports achievement plaques to Brevard County student-athletes over the years. They have also awarded more than $18,000 in academic scholarships to Brevard County high school seniors.
