Who Qualifies for FPL Saving Steps?
To be eligible for the program, customers must meet the following criteria:
• Have an active FPL residential account and live at a location served by FPL
• Has not received this credit in the past. This bill credit is only available once per account or service address.
• Your household income is at or below the United Way ALICE household budget. ALICE is a United Way measure for working families who earn too much for some assistance programs but still have trouble covering basic needs. This measure lets us reach more households, from single parents earning around $60,000 a year to families of four earning under $100,000. Eligibility varies by income, county and household size, so customers should check online to see if they qualify.
• Your account cannot have a history of fraud, such as using a false name or tampering with your electric service.
How Does FPL Saving Steps Work?
1. Check your household eligibility by using the United Way income calculator found online at FPL.com/SavingSteps. Select your state and county, enter your household income and size to see if you are at or below the ALICE threshold to be eligible for FPL Saving Steps.
2. Watch a quick 15-minute video series to learn ways to save on your bill.
3. Verify your income online with our agency partner, The Salvation Army.
4. Receive your $200 credit. Once your eligibility is confirmed, the $200 credit will appear on an upcoming bill, typically within one to two billing cycles.
For customers who may need more immediate or emergency support for your current bill, FPL also helps to connect those in need with other bill assistance resources. Customers can explore all assistance options at FPL.com/Help.
