BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — The Heritage Panthers earned their first victory of the season with a dramatic 28-22 win over the Viera Hawks at Hawks Stadium in Viera.
The decisive play came with 6:11 remaining in the fourth quarter when Heritage’s Izael Johnson recovered a fumble and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown.
Johnson’s game-changing defensive score helped the Panthers secure the six-point victory and improve to 1-2 on the season.
Viera suffered its first loss of the year and fell to 2-1.
The Hawks will travel to face Lyman (1-2) next week, while Heritage will return home to host Legacy (1-2).
