BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida District 22 All-Star Tournament for 2024 continued Sunday night with the 10/11/12 Baseball Division at Merritt Island Little League’s Mitchell Ellington Park.
After Mother Nature decided that 1 o’clock was too early for games and dropped some serious rain on the area, numerous volunteers worked the fields and had them playable around 5:00 for game times at 6 pm.
On Field #1:
The visiting team of Port St. John LL was pitted against the all-stars from Rockledge LL. Braycen Bonet reached base all three times at bat with a single and 2 walks and scored 2 runs for Rockledge.
Anthony Waitt reached base 2-out-of-3 times at bat and added 2 more runs to Rockledge’s total.
On the other side of the diamond, Port St. John’s Jaxon Plecki reached base 3-of-4 at bats with two walks, a single and a double while crossing the plate for 3 of Port’s runs. Mason Hagle and Mark Fordham hit doubles while Bryce Connor and Fordham added 3 runs each in Port St. John’s 17-8 victory.
On Field #2:
Meanwhile, Merritt Island LL was playing visitors to Indian River City LL’s home appearance. Indian River City’s Charlie O’Connor hit a double and scored while Aiden Knowles also scored.
But, Merritt Island wouldn’t be denied as Kash Janke reached base all three times at bat with a walk, a single and a double while scoring all 3 times.
Lucas Dyer hit two doubles, scoring in the third, but being stranded in the sixth, as Judah Alonso doubled in the first and scored. Merritt Island’s lead-off hitter, Rhett Arnold went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored for 2 more of their runs in the 8-2 win.
