Merritt Island Man Arrested After Allegedly Pulling Out a Knife, Threatening Two Subway Employees

Deputies identified the suspect as 45-year-old Edward Cocaine of Merritt Island. He was taken into custody on Wednesday and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and battery, jail and court records show.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – A man accused of threatening two Subway employees with a knife during an incident last weekend has been arrested, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies identified the suspect as 45-year-old Edward Cocaine of Merritt Island.

He was taken into custody on Wednesday and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and battery, jail and court records show.

The incident occurred on April 5 at a Subway restaurant in Merritt Island. According to an incident report, a customer became aggressive while his sandwich was being prepared and brandished a knife at two employees.

Security footage from the store reportedly captured the altercation. Investigators said the video shows the employees attempting to prevent the armed man from coming behind the counter.

At the time of the incident, he was believed to be driving a red Dodge Ram pickup truck with a matching red topper.

Cocaine remains in custody as the investigation continues.
