Summer Reading Kick Off party on May 31

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA—Join Brevard County Libraries for an out-of-this-world Summer Reading Program. You and your family will have a blast reading all summer long with cosmically fun events and activities offered at each library in the Brevardian Galaxy.
Last year, the community read for 1 million minutes during the Summer Reading Program. Brevard County Libraries needs your help to beat that record.
From May 31 to July 26, readers of any age can participate in the Summer Reading Challenge. Track your reading with the Beanstack app to earn digital badges and collect Brag Tags from your local library.
All youth participants who earn at least one digital badge will be entered to win a grand prize of an Astro Adventurer Kit courtesy of the Eau Gallie Rotary Club. These kits include telescopes, books, and tools for viewing the stars and planets.
Your journey across the Brevardian Galaxy starts at the Summer Reading Kick-Off party on May 31.
This free, family-friendly event will be hosted at the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library, 308 Forrest Avenue in Cocoa, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Get your ultra-violet boogie on at the silent disco, sing along with Mr. Richard at 10:30 a.m., explore stellar STEAM activities from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or chill out in the sensory room. You can also enjoy extraterrestrial face painting and other great activities.

For more information about the Kick-Off party, please call the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library at 321-633-1792 or visit the Summer Reading page HERE.
Even more galactic fun awaits you at the End of Summer Celebration.
Hosted at the Titusville Public Library, located at 2121 S. Hopkins Avenue, in Titusville. This event will be on July 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Check out the Summer Reading page later in the summer for more details HERE.
Community Partner Space Coast Area Transit will also continue its free Read to Ride Program. Youth 18 and under can ride the bus for free all summer long, just by showing a valid Brevard County Library Card.
The Read to Ride program runs from May 29 to August 10 and provides transportation on 26 routes with over 1,000 stops throughout Brevard. For maps and schedules, log on to 321Transit.com or download the free 321Transit app.
