Titans Men’s Basketball Team Wins on First Day of Eastern Florida State Classic

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team won its home opener on the first day of the Eastern Florida Classic at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.
The Titans defeated South Georgia State College 79-62 to improve to 4-1 on the season.
A David Andino 3-pointer gave the Titans a 19-7 lead early in the first half as EFSC led from the first couple minutes of the game.
Up nine points at halftime, Eastern Florida State College came out in the second half on an 11-0 run Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo hit a 3-pointer to start the half and then Djiby Ly had back-to-back baskets as the Titans made it a 20-point lead.
South Georgia State College made their own run, cutting it to 46-41 before a Sean Register Jr. basket.
Acevedo-Arroyo led the Titans with 18 points while Register finished with another double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Tyson Wilson had 10 assists and Nick Oliver had 12 points off the bench.
South Georgia State College’s Chandler Thomas led all scorers with 26 points in the game.
Indian River State College won the second game of the day, using some clutch shooting down the stretch to pull away from South Georgia Tech and claim the 94-81 win. Caleb Cameron led The River with 23 points and 10 rebounds while teammate Elliot Ikuobase also had 23 points in the win.
South Georgia Tech’s Clark Mastin had 22 points in the loss.
The Jets will meet Eastern Florida State College in the first game on Saturday, tipping off at 2 p.m. Indian River State College will play South Georgia State College in the final game of the tournament, scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday.
