BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Community Orchestra is inviting audiences to enjoy the warmest and coziest concert experience of the season with Tinsel and Tidings A Symphonic Sleepover, presented December 17-18 at the Melbourne Auditorium.
The sixty five member ensemble will perform both evenings at 7 p.m., dressed in festive pajamas for a relaxed celebration of holiday music.
The orchestra is encouraging concertgoers to join in the theme by wearing their own pajamas, creating a casual and cheerful atmosphere that complements the seasonal selections. The program will include Leroy Anderson’s iconic Sleigh Ride, Hess’s Christmas Overture, Wassail Dances and an appearance from the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Adding a playful twist, the orchestra will present two Beatles songs arranged in the style of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.

Featured musicians will include pianist Paul Wubbena performing music from A Charlie Brown Christmas and concertmaster Ivonne Vega showcasing excerpts from Fiddler on the Roof arranged by John Williams for violinist Itzhak Perlman.
The evening will conclude with a family sing along led by Maestro Mark Nelson. A brass quintet will welcome guests beginning at 6:15 p.m.
Admission to both concerts is free, continuing the orchestra’s long standing mission of bringing accessible music to the community.
Maestro Nelson expressed his enthusiasm for the pajama themed celebration, calling it a joyful way for families to gather and enjoy holiday traditions together.

The Melbourne Community Orchestra is an all volunteer ensemble that presents seven sets of concerts each season as the Orchestra in Residence for the City of Melbourne.
The group features musicians ranging from students to career professionals and performs a diverse repertoire that includes symphonic works, film scores, opera, ballet and patriotic music.
