BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — The Cocoa Police Department welcomed a seasoned law enforcement professional to its ranks Tuesday morning as Chief Evander Collier IV administered the oath of office to Ryan Wuollet during a special swearing-in ceremony.

The ceremony marked the second consecutive day Chief Collier has sworn in a new officer, underscoring the department’s continued efforts to strengthen staffing and public safety services throughout the city.

Officer Wuollet brings 12 years of law enforcement experience to Cocoa, having previously served with a police department in West Fargo, North Dakota. Over the course of his career, he has worked in a wide range of assignments, including Field Training Officer, Crisis Negotiator, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, and Narcotics Sergeant.

Despite his extensive background in supervisory and investigative roles, Wuollet said patrol work remains his passion.

“I enjoy being out in the community and building relationships with the people we serve,” Wuollet said, noting that the opportunity to connect directly with residents played a major role in his decision to return to patrol duties.

Wuollet recently completed his Equivalency of Training through Suncoast Technical College and earned his Florida law enforcement certification in December, meeting all state requirements to serve as a sworn officer in Florida.

Over the coming weeks, Officer Wuollet will undergo department-specific training to familiarize himself with Cocoa Police Department policies, procedures, and operations. He will then enter the Field Training and Evaluation Program, where he will be paired with a Field Training Officer for hands-on instruction and assessment.

Upon successful completion of the program, Wuollet will be assigned to a patrol squad and begin solo patrol duties within the city.

A family man, Wuollet is the second youngest of eight siblings and the father of four children. Department leadership said his experience, commitment to patrol work, and community-oriented mindset make him a valuable addition to the Cocoa Police Department.

Chief Collier congratulated Wuollet and welcomed him to the Cocoa Police family, expressing confidence that his background and dedication will serve the community well.
