McLean will perform at the King Center for the Performing Arts inside the L3Harris Technologies Theater on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 8 p.m. The show is produced by BMG Concerts.
A New York native, McLean is widely regarded as one of the most revered and respected songwriters in American history.
After honing his craft in the New York club scene in the late 1960s, he rose to international fame with a string of enduring hits, including “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night),” “Castles in the Air,” and the cultural phenomenon “American Pie.”
“American Pie” remains one of the most celebrated songs in modern music history. The eight-and-a-half-minute epic is preserved in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry and was named a Top 5 Song of the 20th Century by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2015, one of McLean’s four original handwritten lyric manuscripts for the song sold at Christie’s auction house for more than $1.2 million, underscoring its lasting cultural impact.
McLean’s songwriting influence spans generations and genres. His work has been recorded by a diverse roster of artists, including Madonna, Garth Brooks, Josh Groban, Drake, and Weird Al Yankovic, among countless others.
In recent years, McLean’s legacy has continued to grow. He received a star on the Las Vegas Walkway of Stars in 2019, and his romantic ballad “And I Love You So” gained renewed attention when it was chosen as the theme for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He later signed a recording contract with Time Life/Warner Bros. Records to release his extensive catalog along with the anticipated album Still Playin’ Favorites.
His signature anthem “American Pie” has also been featured in major films, including Avengers: Black Widow and Finch starring Tom Hanks.
In 2021, McLean celebrated the 50th anniversary of “American Pie” with a commemorative world tour, proving that the song — and the artist behind it — continue to resonate across generations.
Fans in Central Florida now have a rare opportunity to experience the legendary performer live in an intimate theater setting.
With decades of hits and storytelling mastery, Don McLean’s upcoming performance promises an unforgettable evening celebrating one of America’s greatest songwriters.
