Eastern Florida State College’s Sean Register Jr. Honored as Citrus Conference Basketball Player of Year

Register Jr. has scored 743 points this season, which is the most by a Titans player in the past 20 years

Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball player Sean Register Jr. was named the Citrus Conference Player of the Year. Teammate Misael Cruz-Rodriguez was named to the All-Citrus Conference first team while  Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo was named to the second team on Friday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA  –  Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball player Sean Register Jr. was named the Citrus Conference Player of the Year.

The freshman forward led the FCSAA in scoring this season, averaging 24.8 points per game, and his 8.7 rebounds per game were fifth in the state.

Register Jr. becomes the first men’s basketball player to be named the conference player of the year since Owen Aquino in the 2023-24 season.

“It is definitely a blessing,” Register Jr. said. “That was a goal, the season went by so fast. You always have a checklist at the beginning of the season, and it was on it, so I’m happy to have received it.”

The Cleveland, Ohio native has had at least 21 points in 25 of the 30 games and has three 30-plus games this season. He has been named the FCSAA Division I Player of the Week five times, which is an EFSC men’s basketball record.

Register Jr. has scored 743 points this season, which is the most by a Titans player in the past 20 years, and becomes the second player to eclipse 700 points in a season.  

He has finished the regular season with 11 double-doubles and is averaging 25.6 points in conference games.

Teammate Misael Cruz-Rodriguez was named to the All-Citrus Conference first team while  Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo was named to the second team on Friday.

Cruz Rodriguez is averaging 12.7 points and 7.2 rebounds in 17 games this season for the Titans. The sophomore from San Juan, Puerto Rico, has scored at least 10 points in 12 of the 17 games and has had one triple-double and two double-doubles.

Acevedo-Arroyo made the second team after averaging 12.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 30 games this season. The redshirt sophomore from Corusal, Puerto Rico, started 29 games and has scored at least 10 points in 19 games.

The men’s basketball team has punched its ticket to the FCSAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, which begins next Wednesday, March 11, in Niceville, Florida. The Titans will face Daytona State College in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m.
