Eastern Florida State Softball Sweeps Heartland Heartland Community College at Home Friday

The Eastern Florida State College softball team picked up a pair of wins on Friday afternoon at Titan Softball Complex. The Ninth-ranked Titans, who improved to 20-6 on the season, defeated Heartland Community College 13-0 and 8-0 in a non-conference doubleheader.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College softball team picked up a pair of wins on Friday afternoon at Titan Softball Complex.

The Ninth-ranked Titans, who improved to 20-6 on the season, defeated Heartland Community College 13-0 and 8-0 in a non-conference doubleheader.

Eastern Florida State College wasted no time in Game 1, scoring twice in the first inning as Aracelis Jimenez led off with a single, stole second, and scored the first run of the day. Avery Velazquez was hit by a pitch and also scored in the first inning.

The Titans exploded for five runs in the second and third innings and added one more in the fourth.

Hannah Davis picked up the win, allowing just three hits over five shutout innings. Annalyn Duncan hit a two-run home run, her third of the season, and Jimenez and Brianne Yocum each had two hits.

In the second game, the Titans once again got things going early offensively. Eastern Florida State College would score three times in the first inning on RBI singles from Duncan, Jessica Merk, and Kerissa Howell.

A two-run double by Madison Velazquez and an RBI double by Merk in the second inning made it 6-0. Madison Velazquez and Merk had back-to-back doubles in the fourth inning to make it 8-0.

The softball team will return to conference play next Tuesday, hosting Daytona State College in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Admission to games at Titan Softball Complex is free, and fans can also watch the game live on the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
