BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College set a school record with 26 runs in the first game of a Citrus Conference doubleheader on the road Thursday.
The Titans, who are now 20-10 in the conference, won the first game 26-0 and then won the second game 18-6.
The 26-0 win is the most runs scored in a game as well as the largest margin of victory in school history.
The Titans scored six runs in four of the five innings and held Hillsborough Community College to three hits.
Jaelynne Whipple hit for the cycle including her ninth triple of the season and drove in five runs. Her two-run home run was her fourth of the season.
Aracelis Jimenez had four hits while Annalyn Duncan and Avery Velazquez each had three hits. Velazquez hit her 10th home run in the game.
Avery Helms hit two home runs, both two-run shots in the victory.
In Game 2, Hillsborough Community College scored four times in the top of the first and two more in the second inning for a 6-1 lead.
But the Titans would storm back to take the lead with six runs in the fourth inning. They would score four more in the fifth inning highlighted by an Avery Velazquez two-run home run for her 11th home run. They would add five more runs in the sixth inning to put the game away.
Velazquez would finish with five hits, driving in six runs while Annalyn Duncan had four hits and drove in five runs. Emma George had a pair of RBI doubles.
The Titans will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon, heading to Daytona State College for a Citrus Conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
