A large wildfire continues to burn in East Central Florida as crews with the Florida Forest Service work to contain the growing blaze.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A large wildfire continues to burn in East Central Florida as crews with the Florida Forest Service work to contain the growing blaze.

The fire, identified as the Diamond Back Fire, has scorched approximately 300 acres near the St. Johns River, north of Cheney Highway and west of Interstate 95.

Officials said the wildfire remained 0% contained as of 5 p.m., as crews continue aggressive suppression efforts in the area.

Firefighters are working to establish containment lines and prevent the blaze from spreading further, particularly given dry conditions and the potential for shifting winds.
