BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The High School volleyball regular season is approaching the end, and numerous teams are already looking ahead to the FHSAA playoffs.

Some teams are in the mix, but need to do well in their district tournaments, and others simply need a Cinderella story to make the postseason.

The Front Runners

It seems as Merritt Island is the clear top team in the county as they have yet to lose in an in-county game since 2023. The Mustangs will be primed and ready to make another run towards the state championship.

Merritt Island, Satellite, and Viera have all locked in their spots in the playoffs with their play this season. It seems that Merritt Island is the clear top team in the county, as they have yet to lose an in-county game since 2023.

The Mustangs will be primed and ready to make another run towards the state championship.

Viera and Satellite have both been impressive this season and will challenge whoever is in their brackets. It would not be shocking to see both Satellite and Merritt Island competing in the Regional Finals for a spot in the final four.

Viera’s experience will fare to them well as they look to make a run in the postseason, something they did not do a year ago.

If the Hawks can beat Satellite in their season finale on Thursday, that will surely give them a lot of momentum going into the district tournament.

On the Brink

The Bulldogs are still in control of their own destiny and will surely be a difficult team to beat when the FHSAA postseason starts.

Melbourne, Brevard HEAT, and Astronaut have all played solid volleyball this season.

The Brevard Heat have once again put together a strong campaign and will be ready for the playoffs. At 19-4, they will likely be a top seed in the FHSAA playoffs if they can take care of business in the district tournament.

Melbourne has lost their last three, but against tough competition, the Bulldogs are still in control of their own destiny and will surely be a difficult team to beat when the FHSAA postseason starts.

Astronaut started the season a little slow, but they’ve won nine of their last ten matchups and seem to be getting stronger as the season goes on. The War Eagles just picked up a huge upset victory over the Melbourne Bulldogs and have a couple of games left to finish off their regular season.

Could Pull Off Some Upsets

MCC will be a team to watch in the district tournament if they can string together a couple of solid performances.

Space Coast, MCC, and Heritage have not had the best seasons; however, they have competed tightly against good teams.

MCC started the season hot but has cooled off as we approach the end of the regular season. They will be a team to watch in the district tournament if they can string together a couple of solid performances.

The Space Coast Vipers could upset some opponents in the district tournament if they play consistently. The Vipers have had some ups and downs this season, but with an aggressive attack, watch Space Coast make some noise in the district tournament.

Heritage is 13-8 on the season and seems to be very close to pulling off some big upsets during the regular season, if the Panthers can manage to get out of the district tournament and make the FHSAA playoffs they will surely be tough team to beat when it matters most.
