Documentary Video Spotlights Merritt Island’s Dragon

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – This documentary video spotlights Brevard’s most unique monument – the 100-foot concrete dragon that rests on the southern tip of Merritt Island, Florida.
Built by a “warlock” in 1971, and originally met with unfavorable opinions from local residents, it has since been an occasion for fund raisers, an attraction, an inspiration for artists, and the landmark of a community – with an uncertain future.
Jeremiah Baumbach produced this on VHS back in 1996. Baumbach grew up on the Space Coast and thought locals might enjoy seeing a little history on this former landmark.
