BCFR Extinguishes Burning Semi Truck on I-95

NO SERIOUS INJURIES INVOLVED WITH MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT

BREVARD COUNTY  • COCOA, FLORIDA — Florida Highway Patrol, Brevard County Fire Rescue & Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multiple vehicle accident involving a semi truck at mile marker 204 on I-95. 

Below is as statement from Florida Highway Patrol Officer Wanda Diaz:

“We are currently working a vehicle crash on I95 southbound at mm 204.  All lanes southbound are closed except for the left lane.  This accident involved a semi-tractor trailer, pickup truck, and car carrier.  No injuries reported at this time but the semi ran off of the road and caught fire igniting surrounding shrubs.We will advise more information as it comes in.”

UPDATE FROM FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL

According to Diaz,  vehicle one a semi-tractor trailer, was southbound on Interstate 95 in the outside lane. vehicle two, a semi-tractor trailer car carrier, was parked on the southbound emergency lane due to a flat tire. vehicle three, a pickup truck, traveling with the car carrier was parked in front of the car carrier on the southbound emergency lane. For unknown reasons, vehicle one traveled on to the emergency lane and struck the left side of vehicle two. The impact threw debris towards vehicle three and caught vehicle three on fire. Vehicle one then traveled onto the west shoulder and struck trees and shrubs. Vehicle one caught on fire after the impact with vehicle two. vehicle one and vehicle three both were destroyed due to the fire.
