Eastern Florida State College Golf Teams Place Second at Battle at Black Diamond

The Eastern Florida State College women’s golf team placed second in a weather-shortened Battle at Black Diamond in Lecanto, Florida.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s golf team placed second in a weather-shortened Battle at Black Diamond in Lecanto, Florida.

The Titans finished four strokes behind Ave Maria in the first round, after the second round was suspended and then cancelled due to weather. Eastern Florida State College shot a 314 in the first round.

Freshman Blair Powers tied Ave Maria’s Lauren Stewart at 1-over par 73 and shared medalist honors.

Ann Burel shot a 77 in the first round and was two under in the second round when it was suspended. Konstanze Anglett shot an 80 in the first round and was 3-under in the second round through six holes when play was stopped.

Cayden Challacombe shot an 84 while Margaux Blais finished with an 86.

Vivian Luu shot an 84 as an individual.

The Titans shot a 292 in the first round and was 4-under in the second round before the weather forced it to be cancelled.

Palm Beach State College shot 7-under in the first round to win the title. Southeastern University was third and Ave Maria was fourth.

Blake Hodges finished second in the tournament, shooting 3-under 69 in the first round. Hodges finished second to host New College of Florida Avery Shahriari who shot 5-under.

Hodges shot three under on the front nine and finished with six birdies and three bogeys in the round.

Daniel Byers finished even par 72, while Trey Farnsworth had a 75, Sean Jacoby shot a 76, and Horace Pennix finished with a 78.

The men’s golf team will play in the Dan York Memorial on Oct. 3-4.
