VIDEO: Man Rides Whale Shark Off Florida Gulf Coast

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA — Another daredevil is making national headlines after riding a whale shark off the coast of Florida.
Donnie Marsee filmed himself riding a whale shark during a snapper fishing trip. The ride occurred 33 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. State and federal laws prohibit riding whales, turtles and manatees, but whale sharks are non-carniverous shark species, and fish don’t qualify under the law.
