BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – No. 3 Florida Tech received an at-large bid to the 2017 Women’s Rowing Championships, following the announcement made by the NCAA on Monday evening. The final will be held on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. on May 26-28.

“I am proud of this young team’s effort this year,” head coach Adam Thorstad said.

“We are a little disappointed that we were not selected as a team, but excited to have the opportunity to go back out there again to represent Florida Tech and show what we have. These young women have really put a great effort in this year, and I couldn’t be happier with their progress.”

The Crimson and Gray crew currently covers the number three-seed in the latest CRCA poll, and will race as an at-large Varsity 8 boat, therefore not being able to score team points.

The NCAA 2016 Champion, Barry University, and FIT will only compete in the Varsity Eight, while Central Oklahoma, Mercyhurst, UC-San Diego and Western Washington will compete in both the V4 and V8.

The shell of Taylor Stoni, Natalia Arasa Bonavila, Morgan Billig, Theresa Gadilhe, Graysen Pensch, Samantha Martinez, Irina Djurovic, Aurelia Gervasi and Federica Pala will face Central Oklahoma and UC-San Diego in Heat B at 11:36 a.m. ET on Friday, May 26.
