Florida Gubernatorial Candidates Ron DeSantis, Andrew Gillum Square Off In Debate Tonight

8 p.m. ET on CNN
(SUNSHINE STATE NEWS) – A pair of much-anticipated debates between governor hopefuls Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum are set for this week, as the GOP fights to keep the office it’s held for 20 years and the Democrats try to make Gillum the first African-American governor of Florida and the first Democrat since Lawton Chiles to win the job.
8 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Nationally televised on CNN, the first one-hour debate, at WEDU studios in Tampa, will be hosted by CNN anchor Jake Tapper.
7 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: The second DeSantis-Gillum debate — at Bailey Hall, Broward College, Davie — will be hosted by Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association. It will be broadcast on TV stations in markets across the state and on C-Span and will be on Florida Public Radio.
Early voting for the Nov. 6 election is set to begin Monday in 28 counties: Alachua, Bradford, Broward, Charlotte, DeSoto, Duval, Escambia, Flagler, Gadsden, Hillsborough, Indian River, Jefferson, Lake, Lee, Leon, Levy, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okaloosa, Okeechobee, Orange, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Lucie and Taylor.
All counties are mandated to begin by Saturday, Oct. 27.
