BOOKS & MEDIA

In Change Your Life Not Your Wife, the two doctors demystify highly successful individuals failing at home and making life-damaging choices – and offer hope through insight and easy-to-understand exercises to improve these most important relationships.

Dr. Pete’s first book, More Health Less Care: How To Take Charge Of Your Medical Care And Write Your Own Personal Prescription For Lifelong Health grew out of his observation that medical care wasn’t helping people to be well.

Now he’s moving “upstream,” as he puts it, to tackle our emotional health in Change Your Life Not Your Wife, which he co-authored with Dr. Tony Ferretti.

“So many successful people, especially men, aren’t healthy emotionally and aren’t successful in their intimate relationships. With our new book, Tony and I hope to make a difference,” he said.

Dr. Ferretti elaborates, “Divorce is everywhere today, especially among high-achieving and success-driven professionals, sometimes even those in long-term marriages. Unfortunately, this can even become a pattern for some high-achievers.”

Demystifing the Discord

In Change Your Life Not Your Wife, the two doctors demystify this seeming discord – highly successful individuals failing at home and making life-damaging choices – and offer hope through insight and easy-to-understand exercises to improve these most important relationships.

“Basically the same character traits that propel us to succeed in our careers can bring our family life crashing down,” said Dr. Ferretti.

“We’ve tried to use recognizable, true-to-life examples to help make this clear,” he said.

“The good news is that relationships can get better.  Marriages do heal.  When couples are willing to work through their issues, dramatic improvement and healing are possible.  I see it in my practice daily.”

Despite being prominent in local healthcare, the two doctors hadn’t met until just a few years ago.  Perhaps unsurprisingly, they met at the annual conference of the Space Coast Writer’s Guild.

“Tony and I met while in line waiting to meet literary agents,” said Dr. Pete.

“While neither of us got an agent, we found our partnership.  It was clear that we were kindred spirits on emotional health and, after several meetings over the next six months, we decided to collaborate on this book.”

Although it’s been two and a half years in the making both doctors are glad they stuck to their joint project.

“I have to say that working with Tony was a great experience,” said Dr. Pete.

“During our partnership Tony and I had to live out the advice we give on communication, trust and conflict resolution.  Tony led the way and we had fun too.”

Dr. Ferretti returned the complement saying, “Pete is a great partner and we learned a lot from each other.”

Asked about future books both demurred, Dr. Ferretti saying that he will be concentrating on promoting Change Your Life Not Your Wife and Dr. Pete saying that he needs to stay focused on his new position with Florida Hospital.
