‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ A Distraction

Lately, I have been reading a lot of complaints about the Brevard Public Library System’s decision to ban the book, “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

This issue has become a distraction for many Brevardians whose access to all library resources, not just a single book, is threatened by a lack of funding for important library services.

Several years of cuts have drastically reduced library hours and access in recent years.

This makes it difficult for working families and their school-age children to use the very resources their own tax dollars fund.

Job seekers and seniors, who so fully utilize the libraries, know how much more than a mere pile of books a library is.

We need to hold our elected officials accountable to ensure our libraries are properly funded.

County commission candidate Joe Pishgar has publicly voiced his support for providing adequate funding for Brevard libraries, and the other candidates for the county commission race should do the same.
