Between frequent downpours and lots of standing water everywhere in Brevard, mosquitoes are breeding in record numbers.

Brevard County’s Mosquito Control Department strives to alert residents how to protect themselves, their pets and property against the pesky insect and especially during National Mosquito Control Awareness Week from June 24 to 30.

In recognition of the week designated by the American Mosquito Control Association, the Brevard Mosquito Control Department staff will be on site at six locations throughout the county to help educate the public about mosquitoes and how to control and prevent the insect’s transmitted diseases from affecting you, your family, pets and livestock.

Between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents are invited to stop by any of these locations to speak with staff members about what can be done collectively to assist in your protection.

Locations include Lowes in Titusville, Home Depot in Titusville, Home Depot on Merritt Island, Lowes in Rockledge, Lowes in Indialantic and Lowes in Palm Bay.

The Brevard County Board of Commissioners has adopted a resolution recognizing the important designation of a National Mosquito Control Awareness Week for the county.
