May Prevent Possible Flood Damage

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With as much rain as Tropical Storm Debby is dumping on the Space Coast, local flooding in some lower areas may be possible.

With that in mind, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Work Farm is making sandbags available to residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Inmates will fill sandbags for distribution from the grounds of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Work Farm at 2955 Pluckebaum Road in Cocoa.

Residents can pick up 10m sandbags per household in a drive-through style.

The sandbag distribution is in response to citizen concerns about potential rainfall and hopefully may prevent flooding and storm damage from Debby.

For more information, call Major Greg Robertson of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office at 321-690-1505.
