Two District 2 Little League All-Star Tourneys Open

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Little League All-Stars competition is officially under way in Brevard County.

Early tournament play opened Friday night at Rodes Park in West Melbourne in  two separate All-Stars divisions for District 2.

The remainder of the District 2 divisions will all start play by next weekend, as will all of the District 22 divisions.

District 2 includes Viera/Suntree Little League, Beachside Little League, the Palm Bay Fastpitch Softball Association, Eau Gallie Little League, South Beaches Little League, Palm Bay East Little League, West Melbourne Little League and Palm Bay West Little League.

District 22 includes Mims Little League, Indian River City Little League, Merritt Island Senior Little League, Port St. John Little League, Cocoa Little League, Rockledge Little League, Merritt Island Little League and Space Coast Little League.

Eventual divisional tournament winners in baseball and softball claim District 2 and District 22 titles and qualify for berths in Section 2 and Section 3 tournaments next month, with the sectional winners advancing to the state championships in mid-July.

District 2 play continued in both the 9/10 and 10/11 baseball divisions Saturday at Rodes Park.

Results from the 9/10 baseball division Friday night (June 29) at Rodes Park:

West Melbourne 13, Eau Gallie Gold 3 (4 innings)

Viera/Suntree Green 12, Viera/Suntree Black 2 (3.5 innings)

Eau Gallie Blue 11, Palm Bay West 1 (5 innings)

Viera/Suntree Gold 23, Palm Bay East 1 (4 innings)
