Two Brevard Teams Vie For Little League World Series

South Beaches, Rockledge Hunt Regional Titles

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – With victories this morning, two All-Star squads from Brevard have a chance of qualifying for Little League Baseball World Series tournaments.

At Viera Regional Park, the South Beaches Little League All-Stars will meet Greater Largo, the Florida state champion, at 10:30 a.m. in the Southeastern Senior Baseball Regional championship game.

In an earlier pool play tournament game, South Beaches beat Greater Largo 5-3.

South Beaches reached the regional final by defeating Dumfries, Va. 12-0 on Monday.

With a win today, South Beaches clinches a berth in the Senior League Baseball World Series in Bangor, Maine.

Playing for South Beaches are Austin Alsept, Carson Jackson, Gabriel Rodriguez, Miguel Rodriguez, Tyler Brennan, Cooper Christiano, River Horning, Joe Minkwitz, Reid Poltun, Chris Phillips, Kyle Starks, Taylor Yates, Jake Walsh, Matt Doran, Tyler Phillips and P.J. Robinson.

John Phillips is the South Beaches manager. John Christiano and Mike Alsept serve as team coaches.

Junior Baseball

In the Southeastern Junior Baseball Regional semifinals at Greenville, S.C., rain washed out play between Rockledge and Dumfries, Va. at 0-0 in the first inning.

That game will resume at 10 a.m. today.

Should Rockledge defeat Dumfries, it advances to today’s regional championship game at 3 p.m. against Greeneville, Tenn.

If Rockledge wins the Southeastern Regional, it qualifies for a berth in the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Mich.

Playing for Rockledge are Drew Parrish; Kevin Clanton; Mason Studstill; Mike Hall; Gavin Spinneweber; Trevor Payne; Kasim Nabhan; Blake Beyel; Justin Robedeau; Brady Martello; and Jackson Parker.

The team’s manager is David Clanton. Team coaches are Robbie Robedeau, Tom Hall, Shane Parker and Dino Martello.
