EL DORADO, KANSAS – Brevard Community College’s women’s soccer team suffered its first loss of the year Saturday in a 4-1 defeat to defending NJCAA Division I national champion Tyler (Texas) Junior College in El Dorado, Kan.

Brevard, which was ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA poll coming into the game, fell to 2-1 on the season. Tyler, ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA poll, but No. 1 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, improved to 2-0-1.

On Friday night, BCC waited through a 90-minute weather delay and a move to a new game site to defeat host Butler Community College 2-1 in overtime in Augusta, Kan.
Sophomore Courtney Hueston scored the game-winner for Brevard, heading in a long throw-in from freshman Heather Williams three minutes into the extra period.
The contest was tied 1-1 at halftime as sophomore Morgan Taylor Smith scored her first goal of the season for BCC while Butler scored on a penalty kick.
BCC outshot Butler 13-5 and Titans goalkeeper Julia Kantor made four saves.
Next up for Brevard is a trip to Albany, Ga. to meet nationally ranked and 2011 NJCAA national runner-up Darton College on Saturday.
