Collecting Monetary Donations

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The McNair Magnet School Junior Beta Club is reaching out to help soldiers in Afghanistan as well as victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Students are currently working on two different service learning projects.

The first is collecting donations for the East Bagram USO at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

Students are collecting personal toiletries, individually wrapped snacks, and chocolate to try to make the soldiers’ lives a little more comfortable. One student put her trick-or-treating skills to good use on Halloween and donated a huge sack full of candy.

The McNair Junior Beta Club is also working to send monetary donations to the Red Cross to help with the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

By selling refreshments at a school dance, the club earned in November and is donating $150.

Beta Club members are planning to repeat that donation, after the next selling opportunity.

Faculty and staff also have also been asked to participate.

For more information about how to help, call McNair principal Rosette Brown at 321-633-3630 or send an e-mail to brown.rosette@brevardschools.org.
