11 Florida Tech Student-Athletes Set to Graduate on Saturday

1,388 degrees awarded between summer and fall

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Florida Tech President and Chief Executive Officer Anthony J. Catanese will present degrees to a total of 11 current or former student-athletes at Saturday’s fall undergraduate and graduate ceremonies at the Clemente Center.

The graduates represent six of the university’s 21 active varsity sports and an assistant coach of the cheerleading squad. A list of the 11 Panthers can be found below.

Three current student-athletes will receive their bachelor’s degree in the ceremony: Andrew Bartlett from the baseball team, Mindaugas Beliauskas from the men’s rowing team and Abbie Stehno from the women’s rowing team. All three will return to FIT in the spring to compete for their respective teams.

1,388 DEGREES HAVE BEEN EARNED BETWEEN SUMMER AND FALL

The undergraduate ceremony is set for 9:30 a.m. with an expected 298 graduates attending to pick up their diplomas. The commencement for those earning master’s and doctoral degrees is slated for 2 p.m. when an expected 491 graduates will participate.

The total number of degrees earned, 1,388, is for all campuses for both the Summer and Fall 2013 terms. These students have earned their degrees through the Melbourne campus, the university’s Extended Studies Department, which has 11 sites throughout the United States and a virtual campus, and about 550 of the total students have earned their degrees through online programs.

At the morning ceremony, one bachelor’s degree graduate will receive the Faculty Honors Award for maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average. He is Richard Leaper of Spring, Texas, an online student earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing.
