Gould, Jones Share EFSC Student-Athlete of Week

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Softball player Dajia Jones and baseball player J.J. Gould are the Eastern Florida State College Female and Male Athletes of the Week respectively for the week ending Feb. 2.

Jones, a freshman pitcher and third baseman from Jacksonville, FL and Mandarin High School had two strong games as the Titans softball team opened its season with two victories in Saturday's JUCO Kickoff Classic and Showcase in Clearwater. Gould, a sophomore shortstop and transfer from Florida State University, had a double, a single and two runs batted in as Eastern Florida defeated State College of Florida Jacksonville 7-3 in the first game of their season-opening doubleheader on Sunday.

Jones, a freshman pitcher and third baseman from Jacksonville, FL and Mandarin High School had two strong games as the Titans softball team opened its season with two victories in Saturday’s JUCO Kickoff Classic and Showcase in Clearwater.

Jones pitched a one-hitter in Eastern Florida’s 9-1 victory over Kaskaskia College of Centralia, IL and went 3-for-4 at the plate in the 10-4 victory over Lake Sumter State College.

GOULD HAD TWO SINGLES AGAINST JACKSONVILLE

Gould, a sophomore shortstop and transfer from Florida State University, had a double, a single and two runs batted in as Eastern Florida defeated State College of Florida Jacksonville 7-3 in the first game of their season-opening doubleheader on Sunday.

Gould, who hails from Sarasota, FL, had two singles in a 6-3 Eastern Florida loss in the second game.
