City of Palm Bay Set to Begin Improvement Projects at Driskell Park and Liberty Park

PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The City of Palm Bay will begin a series of Community Development Block Grant-funded improvement projects at Driskell Park and Liberty Park starting April 27.
These projects are designed to enhance park amenities, improve accessibility, and provide long-term upgrades for the community.
Temporary closures and impacts will be necessary during construction.
Driskell Park, located at 2155 Monroe St NE, will be fully closed beginning April 27 to allow for comprehensive renovations. The park is anticipated to reopen by June 30.
Planned improvements include a complete interior renovation of the restroom building with new tile and upgraded amenities, exterior building enhancements, replacement and upgrades of approximately 1,000 linear feet of sidewalk, and full removal and replacement of both basketball court surfaces and goals.
Due to the scope of work, the park will remain closed to the public for the duration of the project.
Liberty Park, located at 895 Carlyle Ave SE, will undergo improvements in phases, allowing portions of the park to remain open while work is underway.
Visitors should expect temporary closures and limited access to certain areas throughout the project.
The north parking lot will be closed starting the week of April 27 for sidewalk replacement, parking lot repairs, and seal coating.
This phase is anticipated to be completed by June 3.
During this time, sections of sidewalks near the basketball and multi-use courts will also be replaced, requiring intermittent closures in those areas.
Following completion of the north parking lot, work will shift to the south parking lot. Repairs and seal coating will be completed in phases, with portions of the lot closed as work progresses.
This phase is also expected to be completed by June 3.
