‘If You Want To Fight, Let’s Go Out Back and I’ll Just Beat Your Ass’

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Judge John Murphy and Bevard County public defender Andrew Weinstock exchanged heated words during court today in which Murphy allegedly pressured Weinstock to get his client to waive his right to a speedy trial.

Judge John Murphy, a Brevard County Court judge, was elected in September of 2006 and re-elected in 2012 for a term that expires on January 8, 2019. Murphy was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the Nov. 6, 2012 general election. (Florida Courts image)

On the video, Murphy can be heard calling Weinstock out to come to the back hallway, an area where there are no cameras, which is where the fight broke out.

“If you want to fight, let’s go out back and I’ll just beat your ass,” Murphy tells Weinstock before the two head out of the courtroom.
