BCSO Agents Arrest Cocoa Shooting Suspect

Dontarius Terelle Jones Arrested

COCOA, FLORIDA — Brevard County Sheriff’s Agents have made an arrest in connection to a shooting that occurred on the 300 block of A Lane in Cocoa on Thursday.

According to BCSO public information officer Maria Fernez, on Thursday, July 31 at approximately 2 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 emergency call advising that a victim was shot.
Once on scene, it was determined that the victim was 12-years-old and had been shot in the leg during the incident. Witnesses said that the suspects fled the area in a red Chrysler 300 last seen heading toward State Road 520.
West Precinct General Crimes Agents developed probable cause for the arrest of 25-year-old Dontarius Terelle Jones of Cocoa.
Jones was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Discharge of a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle, Discharge of a Firearm on a Roadway and Aggravated Child Abuse.
Jones is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex under a no-bond status.
