BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – It’s not often that 26-year old Joshua Adams talks serious business with those younger than himself.
But the owner of the Melbourne web agency Rock Paper Simple, and partner and IT Director of SpaceCoastDaily.com, got the chance when he hosted the Graphic Design Club from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Wednesday, October 29.
Graphic Design teacher Aileen Carlson brought 10 of her high school students to Rock Paper Simple for a three-hour field trip, so that students could experience what it might be like to work in an agency environment.
The group received a tour of the office and a professional overview from graphic designer, Russ Wood and web developer, Chris Jones. The students reviewed various web and marketing projects and were given refreshments and a presentation on branding development by RPS owner, Joshua Adams.
In June, Adams worked with youth aged 13-18 at Florida Institute of Technology, during the Entrepreneurial Summer Camp sponsored by the Women’s Business Center and Junior Achievement of the Space Coast. This time, the young entrepreneur had an opportunity to play host to students at his Melbourne agency office.
“Ms. Carlson wanted the Design Club students to get a taste of agency life, since some of them may go on to professional careers in graphic design” said Adams. “I love talking about what we do, especially with young people who ask fresh questions and have a genuine desire to learn.”
