No. 14 FIT Struggles At Bearcat Classic, Finish 14th

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – No. 14 Florida Tech dropped four strokes in the third round of the Lander Bearcat Classic at Greenwood Country Club on Tuesday, however, the Panthers ended the tournament in 14th place with a 17-over-par 881.
Ryan Carter paced the Panthers with a one-under 215 to tie for 15th. He matched his first round 71 over the final 18 holes.
Ray Badenhorst tied for 34th at two-over following a third round 74. Brandon Shelley, who recorded a tournament-best two eagles, tied for 39th at three-over. Brandon Lau finished 15-over and Bret Krog was 17-over for the three rounds.
No. 12 Flagler won the tournament by 25 strokes with a 31-under 833. Georgia College & State was the runner-up at six-under with No. 16 Columbus State rounding out the top three at five-under.
Flagler’s Sebastian Barnoya shot below 70 in all three rounds and went 13-under to win the tournament.
Tommy Hurst from Newberry registered the second-lowest score at eight-under. Georgia College & State’s Ryan Trocchio shot seven-under to place third.
The Panthers will use the Buccaneer Invitational, scheduled for March 30-31 in Miami Beach, as their final tune-up before the Sunshine State Conference Championship opens on April 11 at Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.
