FHP UPDATE: Driver Involved In Two Hit and Runs Before Striking House In Viera

DRIVER IDENTIFIED AS RICHARD LUCAS
UPDATE: May 31, 2015 – 10:30 a.m.
Richard Lucas, 26, was traveling on Indigo Crossings Drive at a high rate of speed, lost control of the 2014 Chevy van he was driving, and then left the roadway, striking a car at the residence next to 5857 Indigo Crossings Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
That impact pushed the vehicle into the yard of the home and struck another vehicle. The van then overturned onto its side against the garage.
Lucas was briefly trapped in the vehicle.
According to FHP, Lucas was also involved in two other hit and runs before this crash, where parked vehicles were struck in the area.
This crash remains under investigation as troopers have drawn blood on Lucas to determine his blood alcohol level.
All charges will be pending the results of that test. This crash remains under investigation.

Vehicle Slams Into House In Viera Early Sunday Morning, Driver Taken To Hospital
BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue units responded to a vehicle vs. house incident on Sunday morning at about 5 a.m. in the 5800 Block of Indigo Crossing Drive in Viera.
According to BCFR, the single vehicle occupant was entrapped, a trauma alert was issued and the victim was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
No occupants of the home were injured.
According to BCFR, the building department assessed the home for structural integrity before the vehicle was removed.
Brevard County Fire Rescue Engine 47, Truck 48, Rescue 48 and District 45 responded along with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol.
