Man Dies In Sunday’s Vehicle-Motorcycle A1A Crash, Another Victim In Critical Condition

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on Sunday at Maltese Lane and State Road A1A that has resulted in the death of the motorcycle driver, 72-year-old James Edward McManan of Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Linda Louise McManan, 78, from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, who was the passenger on the motorcycle, was injured as a result of Sunday’s crash, and remains in critical condition at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
According to Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2009 Chevy Impala driven by Tyrone Collins Jr., 23, along with passenger Tyron Collins, 20, were traveling northbound on A1A, as was McManan’s 2015 Harley Davidson.
The driver of the Chevy Impala slowed down to turn left onto Maltese Lane and crossed into the center lane to turn, and that is when Mr. McManan’s motorcycle attempted to pass and struck the left side of the Impala, which ejected both riders on the motorcycle.
James McManan was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported for the passengers of the Chevy Impala.
Both passengers on the motorcycle were not wearing helmets.
The crash remains under investigation.
