BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Jazz Society’s Nov. 8 concert is The Greg Parnell Sextet, who will be playing a tribute to the music of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers.
The program includes selections from the late 1950s and early 1960s by Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson, etc.
The concert will be 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Cocoa Beach Country Club. Tickets are purchased at the door, $10 for SCJS members and $15 for guests.
Included in the sextet are Scott Dickinson-trumpet, Emmanuel Zapata-sax, Corey Paul-trombone, Keegan Matthews-piano, Ben Kramer-bass and Greg Parnell on the drums.
Parnell is also the Musical director of the Orlando Jazz Orchestra and is the former road manager and drummer for the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
He has also performed with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Les Brown’s Band of Renown, Nelson Riddle Orchestra as well as many others.
