Brevard’s Phi Beta Sigma Holds 2016 Strategy Retreat In Cocoa

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – On January 30, men of the Brevard Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated held there 2016 strategy retreat at Paxen Community Connection in Cocoa, Florida.

Regional Program Manager Frank Mizell of Paxen provided a great atmosphere and opportunity for the men of Sigma to strategize and create a partnership with Paxen.

Paxen is a an evidence-based and promising facility that practices delinquency intervention services for youth throughout Brevard County,ages 14-19. Youth are referred b the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. is a supporter of Paxen Community Connections.

Brevard County President Michael Cadore Sr. shared his vision that was based on the Principles of Professionalism, Persistence and Partnership.

The focus of the retreat was to strategize how the men of Sigma can continue serving Brevard County through programs of Bigger and Better Business, Education and Social Action. The objectives:

• Ensure programs are focused and committed to serving our communities and serving young males through mentoring and scholarships: Sigma Beta Club-Stone Middle School, Dress for Success-Anderson Elementary, Law & Order Presentations-Local Police Departments, NFL Play 60 I Got Skillz football Clinic, Summit of Seven
• Ensure symmetry among all of our organizational and community initiatives: Divine 9 Toy Drive, Promote your business Social Mixers, Mothers Day breakfast & Recognition.
• Develop a sense of pride and commitment in the community toward healthy living that will reduce the incidences of health conditions.

The retreat included keynote speaker Michael Moody 2015 Florida Sigma Man of the year who also serves as President of the Orlando Chapter. His message was in line with the Fraternities motto “Culture for Service & Service for Humanity”.

The highlight of the retreat included and awesome lunch from Kay’s Barbeque of Cocoa and having Kristine Neal of TransLife – give a wonderful presentation on Organ and Tissue Donation services.

Kristine stated,

“TransLife was honored to share our message of organ and tissue donation with the Brevard chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. We are looking forward to growing this partnership and working to save lives right here in our own community through donation education and donor designation.”

The goal of the presentation was brought home when Patrick Wright of Clermont, shared his story, “Power to Give Life”. He fought back tears as he shared his story of receiving a call that his 23 year son was shot in the head as he heard his wife scream in the background.

Mr. Wright is an ambassador for TransLife who shares how losing a son served as a way to maintain the life of others, hence the Power to give life.

MEMBERSHIP INTO PHI BETA SIGMA HAS ITS PRIVILEGES 

Through brotherhood, scholarship and service Phi Beta Sigma has impacted not only the local communities that we live in but also the world as a whole. Phi Beta Sigma has become a training ground for world, business and community leaders.

Our success is based on the depth of commitment, vision and confidence of our members. We therefore seek men who will promote and extend the policies and programs of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

The Fraternity, in return, is a massive network through which individuals can grow and develop personally and professionally. Alumni Membership in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity is limited to professional men that have been granted a baccalaureate degree or other degree by a recognized college or university.
