BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department arrested one of its officers last night for prostitution. Officer Shawn C. Archbold was on duty when he offered a undercover agent posing as a prostitute $40, according to Commander Dan Lynch of the Melbourne Police Department.
“The Melbourne Police Department became aware of an allegation that Archbold was engaging in this activity four months ago,” said Commander Lynch in a release.
“Chief Mimbs immediately began an investigation using undercover officers to determine if the allegations were true. Last night, the allegations were confirmed and Archbold was immediately arrested by members of the Melbourne Police Department.”
Archbold was taken to the Brevard County Detention Center last night following the investigation and was immediately suspended without pay from the Melbourne Police Department at the time of his arrest.
Furthermore, the agency is currently working through the due process procedures to terminate his employment with the Melbourne Police Department.
Chief Mimbs is working to ensure that all members of the Melbourne Police Department adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct and any breaches of that conduct will not be tolerated.
