Little League District 22 Tournament of Champions: June 5 Update

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Major baseball continued at Holder Park Saturday morning with Rockledge Little League (visitors) meeting Merritt Island Little League.
For Merritt Island, Rylan Diaz had 2 hits including a 3-run homer. Brandon Ferrero had a triple while Sal Carlson and Austin Dockery each had RBI singles. But it wasn’t enough as Rockledge’s Clayton Revels had 2 hits, including a 3-run homer, Zander Chapman had 3 hits including a solo home run, and Cody Smith went 3-for-3 with a RBI. Zander Chapman was the winning pitcher in Rockledge’s 11-7 victory in 6 innings.
Holder Park’s afternoon game pitted Port St. John Little League (visitors) against Mims Little League. For Port St. John, Paul Dooley had a solo home run while Ryan Vite went 2-for-4 and Ryekin Pratt had a double. Mims’ Evan Pavick had a double and Bobby Brown went 2-for-2 while Matthew Hutchins and Austin Roberts each had a RBI single.
The game went into the 8th inning tied at 3 when Port St. John’s Cale Grace hit a 2-run homer and Mims could only answer with 1 run in the bottom of the 8th. Logan Lynch picked up the 5-4 win for Port St. John.
Down at McKnight Family Sports Complex, major softball finished up with two games. The morning game saw Port St. John’s (visitors) Haley Butler go 3-for-5 with 5 runs scored, Paris Boes added a 3- for-5 with 3 runs scored and S.Ogletree hit a double.
For Mims Little League, Alexa Dejesus went 3-for-3 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored. Port St. John took the 18-12 win in 6 innings.
The afternoon game at McKnight saw Cocoa Little League (visitors) meet Rockledge Little League. Cocoa’s Alexa Jamison went 3-for-4 and Kayla Lloyd went 2-for-3, but Rockledge’s B. Snyder pitched the entire game to earn a 3-2 win over Cocoa.
With the win, Rockledge claimed the District 22 Major Softball Champion title.
