ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCF) — The University of Central Florida will host its largest blood drive – with 12 of OneBlood’s Big Red Buses lining the concourse of Bright House Networks Stadium — from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 27, as part of the #OrlandoUnited efforts.

Approximately 500 appointment slots are available for the UCF community, and they are expected to fill up quickly. Additional appointments are available for those interested in donating platelets.

The massive drive includes an effort to register bone marrow donors to the “Be the Match” registry.

UCF is helping OneBlood find a bone marrow match for 20-month-old Korbyn Daniel Martinez, the son of UCF engineering graduate Hillary Sample Martinez (’06).

Korbyn has leukemia, and he is in need of a bone marrow transplant.

You do not need an appointment to help with the bone marrow transplant drive. The registration process involves having a cheek swabbed to determine your tissue type. The Knight’s cheerleaders and Knightro will be in attendance.
