BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Florida Tech freshman goalkeeper Christian Moerch has been tabbed Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 24-30 after guiding the Panthers to a pair of shutout victories in their final week of the regular season.

This is his second time being named the SSC Defensive Player of the Week, as he also received the honor on Sept. 26.

Moerch has been an important facet to the FIT backline this season and it continued last week in victories over SSC foes Barry and Embry-Riddle.

The Oslo, Norway native turned away six shots in the Panthers 2-0 road victory over Barry on Tuesday in Miami Shores, Florida.

The win against the Buccaneers locked Florida Tech into the SSC Tournament No. 3 seed and the right to host a quarterfinal matchup. In 75 minutes in goal against Embry-Riddle on Friday, Moerch stopped two shots as the Panthers prevailed, 4-0, in their regular season finale at Rick Stottler Field.
