BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost its home opener 5-2 to Polk State College Saturday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans, who are now 1-1, allowed three unearned runs in the second inning and could not get back into the game.

Ryan Lang pitched six solid innings for the Titans, allowing one earned run on just three hits.

Offensively, Anthony Martinez had two of the team’s five hits.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Hillsborough on Sunday before hosting Seminole State College at 5 p.m. Monday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus.

EFSC softball team drops a pair at JUCO Kickoff Tournament:

The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost a pair of games on the final day of the JUCO Kickoff Tournament at Eddie C. Moore Park I Clearwater Saturday.

The Titans lost the first game 9-0 to Tallahassee Community College and 8-5 to Illinois Central College.

In the second game, Gabby Orland and Brooke Diaz each went 2-for-4.

Eastern Florida State College (0-4) will open the new softball complex on the Melbourne campus Tuesday night against Daytona State College.

The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The EFSC Titans softball team is hoping a little home cooking does the trick as they return to Melbourne to open their brand new complex this week.
