BREVARD COUNTY • SPACE COAST ICEPLEX • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Join Space Coast Daily’s Alan Zlotorzynski and Lee Hathaway today for an action-packed day-night double header of college hockey.
GAME ONE will feature the University of Florida Gators and the University of Central Florida Knights in the Battle of Brevard. Puck drop is at 4:30 p.m. from the Space Coast Ice Plex with the pre-game show starting at 4:15.
Florida enters the contest with a record of 6-7-1 on the season while UCF is an impressive 18-8-3. The Knights are ranked No.2 in the South Region in D3 of the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
The Gators are led by forward No. 91, Zane Katz. Florida’s leading scorer enters today game on a seven-game points scoring streak and has 12 goals and 10 assists this season.
UF also has on its roster the Bourret brothers, who originally hail from Brevard County in Palm Bay.


Frederic is the Gators starting goalie and has five wins on the season while posting a 3.82 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. Anthony Bourret is the Gators fifth leading scorer with three goals and five assists in 14 games this season.
The Knights are 7-2-0 in their past nine games and have scored seven goals in each of their past three contests.
UCF is led by team captain Jacob Solomon, a structure engineer graduate. Solomon, along with sophomore Drew Bengston, have combined to score 38 goals registering 38 assists as each lead the team with 38 points.
Brody Sharp and Benjamin Thibault share goaltending duties for head coach Sean Weaver’s Knight’s. Brody has played more minutes this season and is 10-5 with a 3.14 goals against average and a .898 save percentage.

GAME TWO is a late contest between the Florida Tech Panthers and the Flagler Saints. Puck drop between FIT and Flagler is 10:45 p.m. with pregame at 10:30 p.m.
The Panthers are 4-8-1 this season and are led offensively by left winger Devin Mize.
Mize is averaging a more than a point per game with 14 goals and two assists in just eight games this season.
Rob McIntosh is also surpassing more than a point per game plateau with 10 goals and four assists in 13 games played this season.
In goal for FIT will likely be Joey Robinson who is 4-4-1 on the year.

Tied with 11 points are Austin Dye (9G, 2A) and Ryan Oteri (5G, 6A).
With temperatures in the mid 40’s tonight, the mood is right for Hockey Night in Brevard County.
There will also be a Hockey-101 class taught by Alan Zlotorzynski of Space Coast Daily at 3:15 today. The class is designed to teach the basics of the game to hockey novices.
