BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – All eyes in Brevard County will be on Mustang Stadium Tuesday night as the Eau Gallie Commodores (6-3) roll into Merritt Island to take on the Merritt Island Mustangs (6-3) for the District Title in a special edition of Space Coast Daily Game of the Week.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., with special live coverage on Space Coast Daily TV.

The game is a makeup game for a prior matchup this season that was rescheduled due to inclement weather on October 10.

This is the 31st season of high school football coverage for Space Coast Daily and the Friday Night Locker Room principals – brought to you by Erdman AutomotiveHealth First4Ever Young of Merritt Island, and All Points.

This marquee matchup features two of the most talented and tradition-rich programs on the Space Coast, each with playoff ambitions and something to prove as the regular season ends.

The Commodores are coming off a tough 48-18 loss to Atlantic.

Eau Gallie senior Xavier Lherisse was voted the District 12 Most Valuable Player,  highlighting a season full of standout performances. Lherisse’s Commodores will visit Merritt Island on Tuesday for the district championship. You can watch all the action live on Space Coast Daily TV.

Leading the way is Oregon commit Xavier Lherisse, one of the most explosive backs in the state. Lherisse has racked up 794 yards on 90 carries with 10 touchdowns, and he’ll be the focal point of Eau Gallie’s offensive attack.

The Commodores bring a physical brand of football and a defense that has smothered opponents all season.

The Mustangs enter at 6-3 and are led by a high-flying passing game. Quarterback Kevin Verpaele has been sharp all season, throwing for 1,909 yards, 19 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.

His top target is Donterrius Robinson Jr., who leads the team with 33 receptions for 513 yards and seven touchdowns. Merritt Island will look to use its aerial attack to stretch the field and keep Eau Gallie’s defense off balance.

Live play-by-play coverage of the game can be seen on Space Coast Daily TV.
