BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With temperatures hitting the mid 90s this weekend, take a few hours and cool off with Space Coast Daily’s great local hockey coverage.
Join Space Coast Daily Sports Talk’s Alan Zlotorzynski at 4:45 p.m. for the play-by-play as Patrick Air Force Base’s AFTAC Hockey Club host the Tampa Bay Firefighters.
The game will be played at the Space Coast IcePlex in Rockledge, and will benefit Camp Hopetáke.
Camp Hopetáke is a week-long, sleep-away summer camp for children ages 5-17 that have survived a burn injury.
Hopetáke, the Seminole Indian word for “children,” is free of charge to the campers and is financially supported by the fundraising efforts of Tampa General Hospital, the Tampa General Hospital Foundation and Tampa Firefighters Local 754.
The last time these two teams played they raised $1,700 for Camp Hopetake.
While the action at the gate benefits a great cause, the action on the ice should be great as well.
The AFTAC Hockey club seeks to promote community involvement through participation in events with other public service teams and educational institutions.
The Tampa Bay Firefighters Hockey Club is a not for profit organization made up of firefighters from multiple departments in the Tampa Bay Region who play hockey for fun and charity.
Puck drop is at 4:30 p.m.
